Reunite's Annual Balloon Launch

Reunite's Annual Balloon Launch

I had the pleasure of attending the Belmont Hotel yesterday for what must be one of the most informative events in the Hague Convention Calendar. With people available from the FCO (Foreign Commonwealth Office)the Ministry of Justice and The Child Abduction Team to answer many of those questions which arrise from the complexity of the H/C.

I was suprised by the ammount of left behind parents who attended and also saddened by the fact that they would do everything in their power to get their kids back or just to see them, my daughter never had that. Unfortunatley her father new where she was and made no attempt to visit her. It was the H/C that allowed him the control that we had fled from.

At the Ballon Launch I don't believe there was a dry eye even "us abductors" felt the emotion as the messages attached to the balloons were read out. Watching them sail up into the sky brought the sheer reality that is not knowing where your child is.

In the afternoon we were joined by my ex partners lawyer who actually seemed quite human. Being able to clear the air was a great opportunity as I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to all of the Reunite team who do an amazing job helping children and their families.
