Being Positive and Determined For the Right Reasons

Whatever side of the Hague Convention you are sitting, these situations are tremendously traumatic.
That is why I feel mediation is so important in finding a solution and it is never too late to start. Ask Reunite or your solicitor about this.

However, it does take two sides to agree to use mediation. If it is not possible; remember to stay positive and determined for the right reasons - the welfare of your children.
It is very easy to lose focus and act out of panic. Please don't panic! There is always a solution. Staying positive and focussed will help your children in the end.
From my personal experiences, staying positive is hard work in these situations but it is vital to beat the anxiety.

People are listening to my children!

I hope everything works out favourably for Jessica.
My situation is different but falls under the Brussels II revised regulation aswell.
I am not allowed to comment on what is going on in the english court but I can comment on what is happening in France (please read my previous entry under 'my stories').
I was permitted to use the 'new' evidence provided by a recent CAFCASS report in the French court. The French court decided that the children's objections to being returned were so strong, that they were allowed to remain living in the UK with me.
The children are delighted and I am organising contact over the summer holidays with their father at the moment - as I have never wanted to stop them from seeing him.

Hello, my name is Kim!

My encounter with the Brussels II revised convention, which is the European version of the Hague Convention, began in August 2005. Since then, I have become increasingly aware of the inhumanity of these international laws. Whilst these laws do help some people and do achieve some good, they have many loopholes which probably cause atleast as much misery as they were designed to save.

I believe, along with many others, that it is time to change them so that they do not infringe on Human Rights and, particularly, on the Rights of the Child as defined in the 1989 Convention.

In order to achieve change, we must highlight the injustice, and I hope that those affected are able to use this website to talk about their experiences.
